Reflecting on what have happened these few days..
H1N1 flu or Swine flu turn phase yellow the 2nd day WHO introduced it as phase green.
meeting is carried out to have duty for temperature screening, etc for the visitors. only the executives in my dept need to be on duty for phase yellow. the rest will be activated when orange alert is up.
in the afternoon of the 3rd day, the news of orange alert was spread out from the higher level though we have yet to receive the email. everyone went down for breifing at the admissions. luckily our duty roster is out. but alot of things are unclear.
there's changesin our daily routine:
-put aside your work and be on duty. -take staff lift instead of visitors lift. -take temperature twice a day, even its a weekend. -bath after duty. -wear a mask in hospi.
sounds like what the nurses do during sars period right.
together with these unexpected changes, limin tendered her resignation. its so sudden that my team were at a loss of words. we were having team meeting about the duty roster and she din wanna get involved, surprised us with the letter and left. we thought she was out of control and perhaps she'll be alright the next day.
initially, i feel its alright for us to help out. though we are non-nursing staff, we are part of the hospi and should do our part.. to be alert and prepared if the virus breakout in singapore.
i thought doing our part for the nation, fighting against swine flu is nothing.. till i managed to talk to limin.. she's afraid of spreading the virus to her family and boyfriend. they will be quarantined and may danger their lives.
NO. she's not selfish. she's right. what if something really happen to our family and friends? she doesnt want to live in regret. frankly speaking, i have never thought of this. feeling quite remorseful. i was still thinking about how great it is to be experiencing and taking part in the preparations against the spreading of swine flu. i only thought everything will be over if everyone participate and win this battle. i should have think of my surroundings.. i should have.
about limin's absence, i could not imagine how my life will change and dull without her. when i know i cant persuay her to stay, my tears dropped. i excused myself before letting her catch this scene. no doubt, celia as my buddy is supposed to help me along with things in the hospi, she did not. limin has been helping me out, sharing our problems and joy. she's always concerned and bring lots of laughter to us. but she has set her mind upon leaving. jesper din even wanna try to make her stay. sighs.
im on duty tml morning !.. supposed to be on tuesday night with jesper. oh well. shall have sufficient rest tonight.
